About Us
Since 1996, CIELO has been providing hope to immigrants in Thurston, Lewis and Mason counties. We educate, empower, and connect people with the resources they need to create better lives for themselves and achieve their dreams. These resources include:
- education for all ages
- counseling services and
- advocacy for those who have been victims of crimes.
But CIELO is more than just a resource center. We are a community hub where people form strong bonds with other immigrants, our staff, and the over 150 volunteers who make our work possible.
Creating a Strong and Diverse Community
We believe that our differences make our community stronger. We provide opportunities for all members of our community to develop a true respect and appreciation for all our neighbors, regardless of their immigration status.
Our supportive network and programs give immigrants hope. We help them get new skills so they can actively participate and contribute to the wider community.
For the hundreds of volunteers and donors who work with CIELO, we provide a place where they can put their ideals into action.

Our History
In 1996, a group of 8 dedicated Latinas founded CIELO. Their purpose was to help the growing Latino population in the South Sound access mental health services. Since then we have greatly expanded our services. We now provide:
- educational classes for all ages
- crime victim advocacy and
- cultural/social activities
- all in addition to our original mental health counseling.
