"Anti-Hunger Heroes", says Thurston County Food Bank of CIELO's first ever mobile food bank.

Covid-19 has forced a change in how business is conducted across the world. For CIELO it’s no different. We’ve had to be creative about how to serve our community. We mobilized our team remotely for victims of crime and domestic violence, triaged through (564) 999-0665. Our Education team is in contact with students, volunteers, and educators. We’ve also engaged our partners at Thurston County Foodbank & Good Shepherd to launch a mobile food bank! The mobile food bank, a first for CIELO, helped provide food and some toiletries for 77 LatinX families from both Thurston and Mason counties. The response from the community who showed up was one of appreciation and gratitude. CIELO’s team was able to serve these families in a drive-thru manner to stay in compliance with social distancing and the success of the event has prompted CIELO to move to a bi-monthly model during this time of greatest need.
